Dining on a gluten-free diet can be hard. While most restaurants are happy to work with their guests in accommodating meals to suit dietary restrictions, it still can be difficult to find options on a menu that go above and beyond basic items. Or just, you know, options at all. However, as more knowledge is becoming commonly available, some restaurants have begun to make great strides in what they’re serving up. The following five eateries in Brantford have got your back when it comes to gluten-free noms.

LETTUCE LIVE

This eatery provides flexitarian meals for the plant-curious diner. Not only will your belly be happy with your gluten-free food, but your heart will also grow three sizes knowing that they are thoughtful in their menu, supply, packaging and consumption. If you’re looking for a quick bite, swing by 10B Edmondson St. and grab one of their smoothies and a “conscious” snack to go.

BISTRO SEVEN

Offering breakfast, lunch and dinner, this restaurant has a gluten-free option for just about everything on their menu. Located at 71 Charing Cross St., Bistro Seven offers a healthy alternative to all your favourite comfort foods. Feeling a little sluggish after a late Friday night? Try their gluten-free Simply Vegan – a mock omelette loaded with all the goods that will get you back on your feet.

THE EVEREST GRILL

The in-house menu of The Everest Grill, found at 781 Colborne St. E., lists options for several different diets, including, you guessed it, gluten free! There is something on this menu for everyone who enjoys fine Indian cuisine. If you’re not sure where to start, their chana masala with basmati rice is a lovely and aromatic dish that will leave you feeling warm and satisfied.

THE HEALTHY RABBIT

Serving mostly plant-based foods, The Healthy Rabbit also has a ton of delicious options for the gluten-free eater. Another restaurant on the list that focusses on community and sustainability, The Healthy Rabbit at 105 Brant Ave. is sure to please your taste buds. Their extensive menu also includes Kombucha and wellness shots.

GOO’S TAKE-OUT & CATERING

Look for Goo’s at 230 Shellard Ln. and you will find another great option for gluten-free food. They even have designated fryers for their gluten-friendly items. Whether you’re looking for poutine, burgers, wings or fish and chips, you’ll be thrilled with this joint’s take on the classics.
