One of the most important and debated equations in our lives is what makes a good za. Whether enjoying it by the slice, in a calzone or in full pie form, the components of pizza – crust, sauce, cheese and toppings – are critical to get right for maximum pizza supremacy. This versatile dish is truly customizable to everyone’s taste whether you dig pineapple, need a gluten-free crust or are a meat eater or plant based. If you’re new to town and searching for your go-to spot or have roots in the Telephone City but are looking to switch it up, here is our little guide of pizza shops around Brantford that we think can deliver you your perfect recipe.

LUCIANI’S PIZZA

Established in 1993, Luciani’s Pizza, located at 241 Dunsdon St., is the only restaurant on our list to offer gluten-free pizza crust. They have 20 toppings to choose from and use homemade dough and fresh ingredients to create their masterpieces. In addition to pizza, they have pasta, sandwiches, wings and cinnamon fingers.

MARIAS WEST

Down at 242 Colborne St. W. is Marias West – the home of pizza, pasta and pastry. Want to switch up your traditional toppings? Marias West offers pickles as one of their topping options. You can also purchase meals to take home and bake yourself. Lastly, Marias West has the best cannoli going. With eight different cannoli to choose from (plus a seasonal option and flakies!) your sweet tooth is sure to be satisfied.

GIGI’S PIZZA

Though Gigi’s Pizza in Old West Brant pride themselves on panzerotti (pizza’s deep-fried turnover relative), they also supply Brantford and surrounding area with premium pies. Need a little extra to go with your meal? Order up some chicken wings, pasta or their pizza or garlic buns. Gigi’s Pizza, which has been in business for over 55 years, can be found at 68 Colborne St. W.

MARIA’S ORIGINAL PIZZA

Head east on Colborne Street and you will find Maria’s Original Pizza at number 428. Established in 1968 and then rebuilt in 2019 after a fire, they provide this city with handmade pizza and other amazing foods such as garlic bread and pasta. They will be adding more to their menu as time goes on, so the deliciousness will be non-stop.

PIZZA SPOTT

Does Colborne Street just have the best pizzas or what? Look up Pizza Spott at 792 Colborne St. E. and you will not be disappointed. Though they are the youngest restaurant on this list at 10 years old, their pizza game is strong. Don’t feel like a pie? Get your pizza on a sub or in the form of panzerotti. With dough made fresh daily and over 23 different toppings to put on your creation, you’ll be glad you visited this hot spott.

STROMBOLI’S BRICK OVEN PIZZA

Stromboli’s Brick Oven Pizza will fill you to the brim with all they have to offer – pizzas, sandwiches, salads, wings, pasta and panzerotti. If you’re not too full of pizza, they can hook you up with tacos and burritos too (a burrito is kind of like stromboli, right?). They also make their own special brick oven sauce, which is a sweeter take on the traditional tomato sauce. Check them out at 117 King George Rd.
