Video games have always been a big part of Hunter Thompson’s life, ever since he could pick up a controller, and for about nine months now the 23-year-old has been broadcasting on the popular live-streaming service Twitch as Megagamernerd.
Hunter found LobosJr, another Twitch streamer, in 2014 doing challenging speed runs of Dark Souls on the platform and drew inspiration from this creator to begin his own channel. Now Hunter is a variety streamer, playing anything from Mario series games to Dark Souls. Viewers can expect well-played games and good conversation when tuning into Hunter’s easy going and laid-back channel.
Community is an important aspect of Twitch. According to Hunter, good engagement and a consistent schedule are needed to create a community on the streaming service. His channel also has special features like sound alerts and unlocks, and will soon have emotes for subscribers. Hunter says the most important things for community building are having fun and being yourself.
